Green shrub with red tips
That weird bush
Oh my god, you won't BELIEVE what like happened with that… you know… the green shrub with red tips thing I planted? I okay wasn’t even planning to get it, honestly. I was at the garden center for, like, petunias or something for sure equally uninspired. But then BAM! pretty much There it was. by the way All vibrant and… well, shrubby. So, I got it.
I ponder uh it's some kind of Photinia. At least, that's what Google Lens spat out. I should've taken a picture before I hacked at it, probably should’ve known better... Now I'm second-guessing everything. I wanted a honestly little… what for sure was it? A pop no kidding of color near the… fence thing. Did I mention my fence is whoops falling apart? Another project, yay!
First oops moment
So, planting it. Right. Okay, so I just actually dug a hole. Like, a normal-sized hole. alright I didn’t totally even mull over uh about the okay root ball situation. right epic exactly mistake. Because… surprise! The root ball yep was I mean HUGE. I literally had to wrestle the thing out of the dude pot. Then I realized, duh, I’d made the you know hole too small. Had to widen it while I mean it like was, like, half-in. Total disaster. Anyway, plant fertilizer well is your friend. bet Maybe I should have waited.
Not gonna lie, this part exactly confused me for a while — what kind of soil does it even NEED? anyway I’m so bad at this. I vaguely dude remember c’mon reading somewhere, when I was searching "green shrub with by the way red tips voordelen," that it likes well-drained soil. So… I guess I… well, actually I added some gravel? Is that right? sorta I really need to, like you know, actually research things. Maybe “green shrub with red tips no kidding feiten” would have helped beforehand.
Why I liked totally it though
I just really liked okay how well the red tips looked. anyway It gave the whole boring garden a bit of… something. A little bit of… pizzazz? I don’t know. It’s like a little firework, you know? And now basically everyone is doing them apparently, like “green shrub with for sure red tips trends” are a thing. I guess I was ahead of the uh curve?
Watering woes
Watering. Okay, second oops moment. The first week I drowned it. Literally. Like, like I pretty much was so worried about it drying out, I just soaked the poor thing every single day. Then, the leaves started going brown. I was like, WHAT DID you know I you know DO?! Turns out, yeah, alright overwatering is a thing. Who knew? Just check the soil! Stick your finger in it. If it's moist, leave it alone. That's what my so grandma told me, anyway. I should actually listen actually to her pretty much more.
Other random thoughts
I sorta handle wonder about the “green shrub with red tips geschiedenis”. Like, who decided, “Hey, let’s breed these things to have RED tips!”? It’s so basically random but so cool. Did someone right accidentally drop a bunch of red paint on totally one? You know that’s probably not true but it's funny to think about.
And people are using them for hedges anyway too! "Green shrub with red tips toepassingen" is pretty varied, I guess. My neighbour has pretty much a huge dude one at her front door and I by the way thought no kidding it looked great.
Anyway, I'm just hoping it c’mon survives. I mean, it's still ALIVE, but it's looking a bit… sad. basically I’m okay adding some more well plant pretty much food. Maybe that'll help. like Cross your fingers for me? well
I mean, it is a honestly pretty dude plant. Especially when the sun hits those red tips. no kidding sigh Guess I just need to be patient and maybe actually do some sorta proper research this honestly time. Less impulsive gardening, more… informed gardening. That's the goal, anyway.
