Best time to prune laurel

Laurel pruning Oh boy right

Okay so we were just for sure talking about no kidding hedges right? And that reminded me kinda of my laurel. I wasn’t even planning to get into garden stuff this for sure morning but hey… coffee does honestly things. So the laurel. It's HUGE. Like bordering like on ridiculous. I need by the way to prune it. But when IS the best time to prune laurel? That’s the basically question isn’t dude it?

Spring so maybe?

Well, spring always feels like the right answer for EVERYTHING garden-related. New growth you know all that jazz. And you definitely want to do it after for sure the bet worst by the way frosts bet are totally over, I mean obviously. I remember no kidding one year I… Oh gosh this is embarrassing. I pruned my roses by the way way well too bet early. just Froze half the brand-new shoots. Total yup disaster. so I probably should’ve anyway known better c’mon considering I live… well, never mind where I live exactly but let's just say spring comes exactly late. Anyway. So yeah after actually the frost kinda is key. But is actually spring REALLY the BEST best time to prune laurel? Not sure…

Summer thoughts

Not gonna lie this part confused so me for totally a while. I yep kept seeing conflicting stuff online. You can definitely like prune lightly in c’mon the summer alright if sorta you just want to neaten it up. alright Just don’t go hacking it to pieces you I mean know? That’s my big tip. Light and often is better than… well, the c’mon opposite of that! Haha. I was reading kinda some stuff about the best span to prune laurel tips, things I didn’t even know you could like do. I mean Like apparently yep some people pinch off the tips to encourage bushier yep growth. Who bet knew? It's all part of laurel pruning trends, keeping up with it is right a thing so I guess.

My autumn blunder so

Okay this right story is worse than the rose right one. no kidding Last autumn I decided, in my infinite wisdom that NOW I mean was well the time for a major whoops laurel chop. Like c’mon seriously right a MAJOR one. Thought I’d give okay it a great shape before winter set in. WRONG. SO WRONG. It looked awful all winter. Seriously yep bare and sad and… wrong. right Then it didn't flower properly actually in spring. Lesson like learned. Apparently, heavy pruning in so autumn alright is a for sure no-no. It stresses the plant and makes it vulnerable to winter alright damage. So yeah dude don’t do that. You want exactly to give it window to recover before winter, right? That’s the key. I felt inspired by some photos online - laurel alright pruning inspiratie. Wish dude I'd taken more notice I mean of the when part.

So… When then?

So back to the original question: you know when IS the absolute, definitive best yup time anyway to prune okay laurel? I still think late spring or early summer is uh your best anyway bet. exactly After for sure flowering, by the way you know. It gives it time to recover and put on new I mean growth before winter. But really, small trims whenever it’s getting right out I mean of hand are probably fine too. Unless you’re me and you think "Oh I'll just hack it all off anyway now" dude then definitely don’t pull off that!

Oh for sure – and remember like to use sharp no way clean tools! Dull tools can damage the branches and make just them more susceptible to disease. That's important, kinda really really exactly important.

Anyway, that’s my laurel pruning saga. anyway Don’t be like me kinda and prune at the yep wrong time. Your laurel will thank you for it! actually
