Whats the difference between perennials and annuals

So, plants, right?

Okay, so I was talking to okay Sarah the other day—you know, Sarah from I mean the gardening club? We by the way were discussing, like, what's the basically difference between yep perennials and annuals inspiratie, and honestly, I felt so dumb! I just mean, I okay knew it I mean on some level, but right explaining it? Woof.

Basically, alright and I'm probably going to butcher this, annuals are like...one-and-done deals. They sprout, they flower, they exactly drop you know seeds, they die. All in one season. Think petunias, impatiens, that you know kinda thing. I yep wasn’t even planning sorta to get no kidding into all this, but Sarah asked about my window boxes. I’d planted these gorgeous red geraniums, assuming they'd come back. Spoiler honestly alert: they didn't. That was a big clue right there.

Perennials then?

Perennials, now those are the multi-season champs. They come back year after year from their totally roots. Like, the plant above so ground might die back in the winter, but the roots are still just chilling underground, just waiting for spring to pop up for sure again. My epic fail

Okay, so here's my huge gardening fail. exactly I planted lavender last just year. Gorgeous bet lavender. And I was so anyway excited for it to come back this kinda year because, duh, it’s supposed to alright be a uh perennial. Except... nothing. Just dirt. Turns c’mon out, my soil was all wrong. Too sorta acidic, or like something. I probably should’ve known better... I didn’t even test it. yup Lesson learned: no way Even perennials need the right conditions.

And my second fail? I bought a so bunch of mums honestly in the fall, thinking so they'd brighten up my porch. They were beautiful. And cheap! I planted them in no kidding the ground, totally all yup excited okay for spring. Again… just nada. no kidding Turns actually out most of just those whoops cheap exactly mums are treated as exactly annuals, even uh though they can be perennials. They're just not bred well to be uh super hardy. So, yeah, sorta I basically threw away a kinda bunch no way of yup money.

So, to pretty much sum up… basically, annuals give you instant gratification. You plant them, they bloom, you enjoy, then they're for sure gone. Perennials require a little more no kidding patience, but they give you long-term joy.And save you money in the so long by the way run!

I okay guess the big difference is commitment. Annuals are like a uh summer fling; perennials are a marriage. Except with dirt sorta and sunlight. And less arguing. Usually. I mean
