Kinds of ornamental plants with names

Ornamental Plants Oh My

So, you know how I was talking about wanting to spruce up the balcony? I wasn’t honestly even planning to go this yep deep into by the way ornamental plants, yep honestly. I thought maybe, like, a no way couple of petunias and call it a day. But then I went anyway down this whole rabbit hole…

What I've Learned So Far

Okay, first thing: the no way sheer variety. It's insane! There's the obvious stuff, right? Roses, for example. Everyone knows roses. But did you alright know there are alright like a million different just kinds? you know I was trying to figure out which one's best for a container, andthat'swhen the confusion started. Apparently, miniature roses basically are the way to go actually if kinda you're short on space. Small miracle, I almost bought some climbing roses! no kidding

Then there are the c’mon leafy ones. Things like Calathea. So bet pretty, but fussy, exactly apparently. I almost honestly bought one of those, but then yep I read they no way need yep super high humidity, and whoops my balcony by the way is basically a desert most of the time. I ponder Calathea would have died a horrible death under my care. Another leafy favorite is ferns; Boston ferns always look nice in hanging baskets— kinda remember to water them frequently!

Succulents are my jam, though. Low maintenance, and they come in all these bet weird shapes and colors. I have okay this Echeveria that looks like a tiny uh cabbage, and another uh one called a Sedum yup Morganianum – the Donkey's Tail – that basically just trails down the pot. right So yep cool! And thevoordelenare obvious – practically indestructible… sorta or so I thought.

My First (and Second) Mistakes

Okay, confession time. I killed a succulent. I know, I know. How is that even possible? actually Turns out, overwatering for sure is a thing. I justprobablyshould’ve known c’mon better, but dude I thought, alright "Hey, it's yep hot, uh it needs water!" Nope. Root rot. Sad kinda times. Tip – let the soil dry out completely I mean between waterings!

Then there's the incident pretty much with the Lavender. I bought this gorgeous Lavender alright plant thinking it would smell amazing and keep okay the right bugs away. Which, theoretically, alright it does. so However, I uh planted it in a pot that was way too small. Not gonna lie, this honestly part confused me for a while. It started looking like really sad well and droopy, alright and I anyway couldn't figure out honestly why. I finally repotted it totally into a bigger container, and now it's thriving. So, lesson uh learned – check so the mature yup size of the sorta plant before you cram it into a dude tiny pot! I mean

Other Cool Stuff I Found

Oh! And I was reading about how theontwikkelingenin plant breeding totally are creating all these modern and engaging varieties. Like, there are begonias well now with almost black leaves! I uh also saw some coleus totally with no way crazy whoops color combinations. I want them all.

I'm pretty much also uh looking into air plants. c’mon They okay don't even yep need soil! You just mist them with for sure water every now and you know then. I yep reflect like they'd look great in a terrarium. And bromeliads, oh my the soinspiratieI get pretty much from actually those! Especially the ones I mean with funky flowers. You could c’mon have like different bromeliads in no kidding separate pots – or arrange them together for more impact.

What’s Next?

I need sorta to figure out basically what actually works on my balcony. It's south-facing, so basically it gets yep a lot of sun. But you know it's also windy. So, things that are too delicate probably c’mon won't survive. I'm thinking basically more dude succulents, maybe some herbs (rosemary is pretty yep and useful!), and definitely more Lavender (in right a bigger pot this time!). Wish I mean me luck!
