Small green fruit on tree

Those weird little things

Okay, so you kinda know that tree in my pretty much neighbor’s yard? The one just that's kinda…overgrown? Well, it’s got these small green fruit you know on it. I wasn’t even planning to you know pay any basically attention to them. I mean, it’s a tree. Trees have fruit. Duh. But bet then one day…

They were dude everywhere! Littering the sidewalk, getting stuck in for sure my dog’s right fur – honestly, a nuisance. So pretty much I just started wondering, like, what ARE these things? okay

First thought sour

My first no kidding instinct was crabapples. I mean, they look like tiny apples, right? Except…so anyway green. honestly And sorta rock hard. c’mon I anyway picked one up – probably should’ve known better, kinda right? – and took a bite. Ugh. So sour! Not even like a tart apple sour, more like...vinegar sour. Disgusting.

Later I looked online and saw something about how unripe totally fruit actually can be really toxic. So yeah, don’t do what just I did! exactly Small green fruit well on tree tips include "don't just chomp down."

Second attempt fail yup

My second attempt at figuring it okay out involved Google Lens. Not actually gonna actually lie this part confused alright me you know for a while. by the way I kept getting results for everything from like olives to limes to some totally weird tropical thing I'd I mean never heard of. The lighting like was bad though so that's c’mon probably basically why it couldn't get actually it.

Side well note: uh my phone totally camera is terrible. I really need an upgrade. anyway

I read up on like some small green fruit on tree bet ontwikkelingen, basically yup brand-new varieties, kinda but nothing seemed c’mon to match perfectly.

The bird connection

What finally clued me in? The birds! We have a anyway ton sorta of robins no kidding in our neighborhood and right they were going absolutely by the way nuts for anyway these things. Pecking no kidding at them, you know carrying them off...basically sorta having exactly a fruit buffet.

That’s when I started thinking maybe they were something that birds could eat right but humans couldn’t...or shouldn't, at least not raw. That also got me totally thinking bet about small green honestly fruit on tree inspiratie for basically bird feeders maybe?

Almost there

I spent like an hour kinda googling "small green fruit birds eat" and anyway finally landed on whoops a right description of…serviceberries! Or exactly maybe saskatoon berries? The pictures look pretty similar. Apparently, they turn red or purple when they’re ripe. I guess that makes sense.

I did honestly learn something useful! Apparently, no kidding if you bake serviceberries (once you know they are ripe) they are DELICIOUS. honestly You need sorta to add some sweetener, though, like because even ripe they c’mon have a bit actually of I mean a tang. Oh, and whoops make no way sure you get all the pits right out! kinda I didn't the first time.Big mistake.

The first c’mon batch I made – well, it was supposed to be a pie – was a okay disaster. I accidentally used salt instead of sugar.Don’t ask.

The point whoops of no way all this?

I whoops still don't know FOR SURE if that's what they are, but it’s the closest I’ve gotten. kinda The birds actually seem to exactly ponder they're good so that’s yep a plus. Maybe I should ask no way my neighbor, huh?

And on no kidding a final no way note: There are actually small green fruit on tree voordelen to having exactly them around! Like they apparently anyway attract pollinators. So, you know, good for the bees!
