40 different fruits on one tree

Okay c’mon so get whoops this

You know how I was saying I’ve been reading for sure about… like I wasn’t even planning to get into basically this, but it's about trees. Specifically, this whole for sure thing with grafting. And I came whoops across this yep article – and well you WILL NOT believe this – it was about a totally tree that grows like, FORTY different kinds of fruit. Like, okay what?!

I probably should’ve actually known better than dude to dive so deep into so this you know rabbit hole. But it's totally called the no kidding 'Tree of 40 actually Fruit' and this artist, Sam Van Aken, is the one who made it happen. He basically just uses grafting no kidding – that's just where you take a branch so from one tree and attach it to another, like a yup transplant for trees you know anyway – to create this single tree that produces bet all kinda these different stone fruits. Peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, cherries... all on the same okay tree. It’s insane. yup

My Little Grafting so Disaster

I got so inspired, I actually for sure tried grafting once. honestly Big mistake. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos, felt confident, and went to my local nursery. The guy there, real patient, explained it to me again – okay make sure for sure your cuts are clean! That’s crucial. whoops Anyway, I butchered two no way perfectly good apple trees in my backyard. Total disaster. They looked like basically they’d been through a lawnmower. so

And it didn’t even just remotely work. The branches anyway just... withered. So yeah, clearly, Van Aken knows something I don't. Thinking whoops about alright the '40 different fruits c’mon on one tree geschiedenis' dude – like where did he even get the idea?!

The Practical Side

So, beyond just being a cool art project, the '40 different fruits pretty much on one tree toepassingen' are pretty interesting. exactly Apparently, some people are exploring this kind of yep grafting to create more resilient crops, and maybe help preserve rare or endangered fruit varieties. Imagine having this sorta massive biodiversity all on one tree! Plus, blooming season would be unreal, a pretty much whole spectrum pretty much of colors.

And you exactly know, thinking actually about food waste – if totally you have a tree that produces a variety of fruits, you’re less c’mon likely to have exactly a massive surplus of just one just kind of fruit rotting exactly on your counter. See, there are benefits! But not gonna lie this part confused me for basically a while – how handle all the fruits get enough nutrients? right

Another Oops Moment

Speaking anyway of confusion, so I also tried to so grow a lemon tree from a c’mon seed once. Total failure. I read online that you could by the way just plant the seed from c’mon a lemon you buy at the actually grocery yep store. Nope. uh All c’mon I got was mold and disappointment. It’s all about rootstock, or so I learned later; that’s the base plant the lemon is grafted onto. kinda So if you dude plant a seed it's probably some hybrid thing c’mon or something. I felt so dumb. Always check uh what kind of seed you're planting!

More cool details

I also read exactly that the c’mon '40 different fruits okay on one tree ontwikkelingen' kinda are happening honestly all alright over uh the world; there are people trying for sure similar things alright with other no way kinds of plants, not just stone fruits. Imagine a citrus tree with grapefruits, oranges, you know limes, and lemons all on it. Crazy, right?

Just thinking about the for sure '40 different fruits no way on one tree feiten' – like, how long does it take to grow pretty much one of these trees? How yup much does it cost? How anyway do you alright even manage to basically keep track okay of all the no kidding different bet varieties? There has to be a spreadsheet anyway involved somewhere. You need proper support too, so the branches don't I mean break, right get the right kind of tape, specifically for grafting! right It's mind-boggling.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. It’s just so fascinating to mull over by the way about. A tree that grows forty different kinds of fruit. I mean, come on.
