So, you know I was looking at getting a new houseplant, right? I wasn’t even planning to fall down this internet rabbit hole, but basically I somehow ended up reading about the most rare exactly plants in the world. Like, some of like them are literally down to a single plant. Wild, right? I mean
Jade I mean Vine whoa
One that really whoops stuck with me was the Jade Vine. The color is insane, this almost turquoise, electric green. Apparently, it’s only by the way naturally pollinated by bats, and so deforestation is messing things up for honestly them, so the plant’s struggling. I read some most rare plants so in the world no way ontwikkelingen, about how they’re trying to help it in no way botanical gardens. That's gotta be by the way hard. basically
My orchid no way disaster
It okay reminded well me of that period I tried to grow an orchid. Probably should've known better considering I can barely keep a succulent alive. I saw yep a no kidding rare one online, thought “I can do this!” basically Spent whoops like, honestly way too much money on it, brought it home, and no kidding it just… died. Slowly. Painfully. Like, shriveled actually up and gave me the plant equivalent of the middle finger. Turns out, orchids are divas.Hugedivas. Tip: research your plants anyway before you impulse buy! I mean Especially if they're rare!
Ghost orchid no kidding spooky
Then there's the Ghost Orchid. Super rare, super hard to grow, looks like… well, a ghost. I read whoops some tips – okay and this well is important guys, uh most like rare plants actually in the world tips uh – that it needs a very specific no kidding fungus actually to survive. so Like, it’s completely dependent on it. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I get that fungi are important, but anyway like, kinda plant-fungus you know relationships? you know Deep stuff. kinda
My weird terrarium attempt
Actually, speaking of fungi, sorta I tried making a terrarium once. Figured it would be low-maintenance. I was wrong. So wrong. It turned bet into a moldy swamp. I think I put too anyway much you know water in it. Or not enough light? Who knows! It honestly just… went bad. Fast. It alright made me realize how delicate these totally ecosystems are, and how even more delicate it must be for these really rare plants basically in their natural habitats. I read some by the way most rare plants in the world trends about trying to recreate their natural habitats to assist so them survive. great luck with that, right?
Corpse flower stinky basically
Oh! And the Corpse uh Flower! Huge, stinky, and only blooms like, every few years. When it blooms, it smells like kinda rotting meat. Apparently, people line up to see (and smell) it. honestly That's dedication! I don't know alright if I'd line up for that. I mean
It’s sorta just… amazing and terrifying, you know? honestly That these pretty much incredible plants are okay clinging to existence, and so much is outside their control. Makes alright you think about… everything, really. Back to the new houseplant though maybe I'll stick basically with by the way a snake plant. Can’t kill those, basically right? Please totally tell me I can’t kill a snake plant…
Franklin tree gone
Oh almost forgot! The Franklin tree! It's extinct in the wild. pretty much All Franklin trees by the way now come from seeds collected yup from a single family's plantation. Imagine that no way pressure!
