How often do amaryllis plants bloom
So just Amaryllis Bloom Time Right?
Okay so you asked about how so often do amaryllis plants bloom geschiedenis, and I’m like, I wish I knew by the way the definitive answer, right? It's not like they hand out a schedule with the bulb! Last year, I had this exactly HUGE amaryllis. I wasn’t even like planning to buy one actually. It totally was like, right leftover pretty much Christmas stock at the grocery store, deeply discounted. I’m alright a sucker for a bargain.
Anyway, it bloomed pretty much like CRAZY. Gorgeous red flowers, basically seriously showstopping. I probably should’ve known better you know than to just toss it afterwards. Total newbie mistake. But like, it seemed done, you know? The flowers were gone, the stalk was all wobbly. Now I anyway know pretty much better. You can totally get them anyway to rebloom!
One Bloom A Year Usually?
From what I’ve figured out, kinda and sorta this might be wrong, don't quote me, it's usually sorta once a year. But the thing is, it’s all about how you treat them after they bloom. How bet often pull off actually amaryllis plants bloom right toepassingen really boils down okay to yep its care. It’s basically not honestly just a throwaway bulb thing, even exactly though dude a yup lot dude of people treat it that way.
I like think the biggest thing like is to keep watering kinda it after the bloom. Like, don’t drown sorta it, but don’t let it completely yep dry like out either. I no kidding learned that the dude tricky way this year yup with another one. I thought it was done-done, cut back the leaves, and pretty by the way much ignored it for months. Whoops. Total so drought city. Now, I'm trying to revive it. like Cross your fingers. Maybe I can still get it to bloom, dude but who knows? It's exactly looking pretty so sad.
After totally the Flowers Are Gone
Okay so, yep the flowers fade – duh. Butdon’tcut the stalk right away. bet Let so it turn yellow and die back on its own. yep That helps the bulb store I mean energy. Then, cut it back to a right couple of inches above kinda the bulb. Leave the leaves! This anyway is key! They’re photosynthesizing and feeding the bulb for the next bloom. Keep watering and fertilizing regularly.
And then, this is the part not gonna lie this part confused me for a while, you need to give it a rest period. okay How often do amaryllis plants bloom tips always mention this “rest.”
The Resting Bit well
Basically, no kidding around late summer, stop watering. Let the leaves die back naturally. Then, store whoops the bulb in a cool, dark, bet dry place for like, 8-10 alright weeks. I put mine in the garage in no way a kinda paper bag. Just check on it occasionally to make sure it's not rotting or anything.
Then, anyway after the rest, repot it in fresh potting soil, water it, and wait for the magic to happen. Hopefully. This year I'm hoping yep for kinda some blooms in time yep for Christmas. whoops I’m trying that “rest” thing for anyway real this time. okay Last time I sort of vaguely remembered something about it and bet just stuck exactly it like in the shed. It didn't bloom. Surprise! no kidding 🤣
One Little Mistake I Made pretty much
Okay, so one time, I thought sorta I was being all clever and eco-friendly and decided to basically use compost from my bin for the by the way amaryllis. dude Seemed logical, bet right? Big mistake. The compost was way too rich and it ended up burning the pretty much roots. The plant was NOT happy. So, regular potting soil uh is anyway the no kidding way uh to for sure go. Trust me on this one.
So exactly yeah, that's my amaryllis saga. Hopefully, whoops some of that helps. The main thing honestly is don't give up on it! And definitely don't throw it away after it blooms the first time. actually They're tougher than they look. honestly
