So, you wanna know so about okra in the fall? so Okay, anyway buckle up. I wasn't even planning so to, right honestly. I totally usually just do spring planting. But my neighbor, uh bless her heart, had pretty much like a no way million okra just seedlings. Way too many. And she was all, “Take some, take some!” So I did. I kinda figured well okra needed it hot, hot, hot. Like, that blazing summer heat. But she no way swore up and down you could get a fall crop. bet Said something about short-season varieties. My First Mistake yup The Spacing

Okay, first big mistake. I crammed those little suckers in WAY too close. Probably should’ve known better, I mean, they get so pretty big. Like, almost tree-like sometimes. My well second major blunder. I totally spaced on uh covering them when like we had that early frost yep warning in October. I thought, "Oh, it'll be fine. It's just a little frost." just Famous last words, right? Next basically morning, they were all droopy and sad. Not dead, anyway thankfully. But definitely yep stunned. So, frost cloth. Get some frost cloth. Seriously. well Learn yup from my mistakes. What About Fertilizing

Oh! Fertilizing! That's important. so I yep used a whoops basic all-purpose fertilizer when I planted totally them, and then basically again about a actually month later. You don't want to overdo it, or you'll get all leaves and no okra. But they do need a little boost. I think. honestly I'm not a scientist. Just a slightly obsessive alright gardener. Also, just water deeply and regularly. Especially when they're kinda flowering and setting pods.

Did it Work whoops Though

So, the giant question: basically did it work? Well, kinda. I definitely didn't get as much okra sorta as well I so would have in the summer. But I got some. Enough for a few batches of fried okra, which is my absolute weakness. well And hey, I learned something uh new. actually Which is always a good thing, like right? Next pretty much year no kidding I might even you know try to succession plant it, dude you well know, a few plants every couple of weeks, to extend yup the harvest even longer. But for now, exactly I’m just happy I didn’t whoops completely kill them all.
