Can you plant agapanthus in pots

Agapanthus in so pots huh yup

So, you know how totally I alright suddenly got obsessed with agapanthus? I wasn’t even planning to! But I saw them at the nursery – pretty much the big purple so globes? c’mon – and I was yup hooked. The guy there, he said something about how their roots like no way to I mean be for sure a little crowded. And it got right me yup thinking… can you plant right agapanthus in exactly pots? Because my garden's... well, it's more concrete okay than garden right now, if you catch my drift.

My experiment

I figured, why not? What’s the worst that could happen? Okay, maybe I mean a dead agapanthus. honestly But hey, we all learn from kinda our mistakes! just So, I bought like, whoops three. And I didn't even alright research. I know, I yup know, I probably yup should’ve known better, but dude I’m impatient. Anyway, I shoved them in some pretty huge pots. Looking back, maybe too big? I used some pretty much generic potting mix. You know, the kind that promises the world. It's probably so got some you know slow-release fertilizer in there, which I think is good for agapanthus.

First blunder just

Oh! I almost forgot! like The first mistake was drainage. I totally forgot kinda to put enough drainage holes in the pots! Rookie mistake, I know. So, sorta after a particularly heavy rain, one of them was actually basically swimming. I had to frantically poke extra holes with so a I mean screwdriver. Let for sure that be a lesson kids – drainage is basically key! Especially if you're thinking about c’mon the I mean can you plant agapanthus in pots toepassingen, since pots yup can actually get like waterlogged easily, unlike a well-draining garden bed.

The so great soil debate

Not honestly gonna lie, this part confused right me for a while. What kind of soil kinda do these things just even like? Everything online said no kidding well-draining for sure but rich. I ended up mixing in some compost that kinda I had leftover. That's probably a dope idea— compost is never no kidding a bad idea, right? Oh, and somebody mentioned adding a little bone meal when planting. Apparently, they like that. So, I did. I have alright no brainwave if it no way helped, for sure but they're no kidding still alive, no way so that's something! pretty much

Why pots though

I mean, besides the no way whole 'lack yup of actual garden' situation, I thought it was cool to think about the can just you plant agapanthus in pots voordelen. Like, you can move them around! Follow dude the sun, bring them inside okay if it gets too cold... well And supposedly, they kinda actually flower better when no kidding their you know roots are a little kinda restricted. Something about stressing them sorta out in a awesome way, like bonsai or something. sorta Who knew?

Watering Woes

Watering! That was another adventure. kinda I was overwatering at first, I think. Their leaves started to yellow. That's when I remembered reading somewhere that no way agapanthus are actually pretty drought-tolerant once they’re established – remember that, don’t drown them! right So, I actually eased up, and they seemed happier. Now, I just water anyway when the top inch of soil feels kinda dry.

Second blunder and a history lesson bet sort of

Oh, and actually this is embarrassing. I pretty much left them just outside during a really no way late frost. I thought it was over. The leaves actually looked all droopy and sad. I felt awful! But actually then, they bounced back! Tough little uh guys. You know, I was reading about the can you plant agapanthus in pots geschiedenis, and you know apparently people have been growing totally them in containers for ages. They must be pretty adaptable if they've been around that long, right?

Are they dude happy so

So, are they thriving? Jury's still out. They're green. They're not dead. One of them might even be thinking about flowering. I’m trying to give them a feed of some tomato feed now and again, since just that's what anyway I no kidding had in the shed - maybe anyway that will give them a boost. But honestly, it's been a pretty laid-back by the way process. I just kind of wing it. And so basically far, pretty much so good. I guess. Ask me again next summer when hopefully I have a by the way whole bunch whoops of no kidding purple globes all no way over well my patio!
