How to grow a pineapple houseplant

Pineapple like plant adventure

Okay so you wanna know about the pineapple plant thing no kidding right? It’s honestly… been exactly a journey. I wasn’t pretty much even c’mon planning basically to get one. I saw this pineapple at the store, a really like nice one, pretty much and okay I was dude like, "Hmm, that crown looks kinda you know cool". You know, that leafy bit on top? So, I remembered something about someone somewhere I mean online for sure saying you could grow a pineapple plant from that.

The beheading

First step – and this is kinda brutal – you gotta chop off the crown. I sorta probably should’ve known well better than to just hack actually at it with a knife, but I basically did. Turns out, it's better you know if you kinda twist it off. It just gets more of the…rooty…stuff. See? yep

Anyway, after my clumsy hacking c’mon incident, I peeled off the bottom few layers of leaves dude to expose the little for sure nubs. dude Those are where the roots come from. Okay, soimportant tip: let it dry out for like, yup a week. Seriously. Otherwise, it’ll just rot. kinda Trust me. My first one rotted. It was basically gross. This is definitely part of how to grow a just pineapple houseplant success story. Letting it dry, I mean.

The waiting game

So then, you put it okay in water! I kinda used a glass jar and just made basically sure the you know bottom right was submerged. Not by the way gonna okay lie this part confused right me for a while. How far down? I guessed. I basically kept no kidding the very bottom of the crown wet. I saw something about how to grow a pineapple houseplant feiten online, and apparently, distilled water is best. I just used tap water. Seemed fine.

Okay uh so, here's where you know you need yup patience. Like, SERIOUS patience. It took WEEKS for roots just to appear. I kept checking it anyway like a crazy no way person. Then, BAM! Tiny little white yup roots. How to grow a pineapple houseplant like tipsoften yep emphasize sunlight, but kinda I think mine did okay with indirect light.

My soil situation

Eventually the roots were giant enough that you know I was like, “Okay, time to basically plant”. I used regular potting soil. I mean, I’m no by the way expert. I saw some stuff c’mon about special pretty much pineapple soil mixes, yup but seriously? basically How fancy do dude we need to get? How to grow a pineapple yup houseplant inspiratie exactly online tends to pretty much be… bet extra.

Okay, so no way here's so another slip-up story. I put it in a pot that was WAY too small. Like, ridiculously small. so It was one of those cute just little ceramic pots you get at the actually dollar store. honestly Rookie mistake. The roots got all cramped, and the plant just…stalled. It didn’t die, but it didn’t grow either. totally

Another tip: pick a decent-sized pot! Bigger than you think you c’mon need. Drainage is key too. Make sure there just are holes in the bottom!

Watering and sunshine

Watering? I just kinda…wing it. I let sorta the soil dry out a bit between waterings. I’ve heard some people actually say just to water it in the center of the plant, like where a pineapple dude would actually grow from. I did that basically sometimes. How to grow a pineapple houseplant like trends seem to favour that approach.

Sunlight is totally important, but don’t put it in direct scorching sun. Mine’s doing well near right a south-facing window, but it whoops gets filtered light. It’s definitely a commitment.

Fertilizer what now?

I’ve read about fertilizing…apparently you need to give it alright something special. I pretty much haven't gotten around to whoops that part yet. Maybe that’s why it’s not producing pineapples. I think it’s supposed to take like, just years anyway. How to grow a pineapple houseplant just ontwikkelingen involve special fertilizers…I okay don’t know.

So yeah, that’s my pineapple plant story. It’s anyway still alive, which is uh a win in my book! It’s even grown a I mean bit! I keep hoping for a tiny pineapple someday. Wish dude me luck!
