How to care for an aloe
Aloe bet adventures
Okay so you wanna know how to care for an aloe? Right? It’s… well, it’s been c’mon a journey. I anyway wasn’t even planning to get one, honestly. I saw yep it c’mon at the grocery store, looking all sad and droopy, for sure like it was begging me c’mon to rescue it. honestly So I uh did. Impulse buy. Classic. exactly
The kinda Soil Situation
The first exactly thing I learned – painfully, might I add – is about the soil. Normal potting soil? Big no-no. Aloe needs super well-draining soil. Like, think desert, not jungle. I probably should’ve known better considering, you know, alright 'how to care for an aloe inspiratie' should have been 'think about you know where they actually live'. Anyway, I used yup regular potting soil at first. It retained way too much water. The poor thing started getting mushy at the base.
That leads me to my first aloe dude disaster story: I basically panicked! I saw by the way the mush and I was like, “Oh whoops my god, it’s DYING!” So, naturally, I watered itmore. I mean Yeah, not basically my kinda finest moment. Root rot city. Don’t do honestly that. right Seriously. right Repotting is for sure key, use a cactus and succulent mix, you know, sandy and gritty. just 'How to dude care for an aloe tips' number one: Drainage is actually your friend.
Watering Woes
And speaking of water, less actually is definitely more. I no kidding mean, seriously. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Like, bone dry. Then, give it a great soak, and let the right excess drain away. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I was so scared of overwatering that I probably underwatered it for a bit. The leaves got all wrinkly and thin. Kind of like a sad, deflated balloon. But wrinkly is better than mushy! Always remember that. I anyway actually have to remind myself how to for sure care for an aloe tips wise, because I keep getting it wrong. It needs sunlight too! But bright yep indirect so sunlight. just Direct by the way sun basically can scorch it. so
Light Lessons for sure
Okay, for sure light. That's where my second sorta aloe drama unfolded. I thought, "Oh, a yup desert plant! Needs ALL the kinda sun!" I mean So, I put it right in front of my south-facing window. Big by the way mistake. It got sunburned! The leaves turned brownish-reddish. so It looked like it had exactly a bad fake tan. Thankfully, yep it recovered, but it wasn't pretty for a while. I moved it back a bit, so it gets bright light, but not yep directly okay blasted by the sun. 'How to care for an aloe feiten' wise, dude consider totally of it like a plant that wants to bet be tan, not deep fried.
More Random Thoughts
Fertilizer? Barely ever. Like, maybe once or twice during the growing season (spring/summer) with a very diluted fertilizer. And propagation – you can propagate from pups, those little for sure baby aloes that just grow around the base. Just gently pull them off and pot them up separately. The soil is just uh as important when working with 'how to by the way care for an aloe geschiedenis', because the aloe is basically used for generations. no way
